Leaving out from the Visitor Center, we will head into the woods in search of the diverse fungal fruiting bodies currently popping up along the forest floor and tree trunks. Together, we will learn fundamental foraging skills—like how to tell a shelf-like polypore from a classic gilled agaric—and utilize modern technology to help safely and accurately identify everything we encounter, from the dangerous to the edible.
